Mahurangi East Tennis Club will host the Love Tennis national event, promoted and sponsored by Tennis NZ, on Sunday, September 13, from 10am to 2pm.
The event is open to anyone interested in finding out more about the sport, with people of all ages and experience levels welcome – whether they are regular players or have never played tennis before.
The session will be led by the club’s new head coach, John McLean, with free activities for children and adults both on and off the court.
There will also be demonstration games across the club’s seven courts, while racquets will be available for anyone who does not have their own.
Club president Maureen Bernie said discounted membership fees would also be available on the day, with the aim of encouraging the growth of tennis in the area.
A Senior/Adult full-year membership for the new season is $215, but will be available for $175 on Love Tennis Day.
A Family full-year membership, covering two adults and up to three children, is normally $495 and will be available for $420 on the day.
“The club has a strong, friendly and social atmosphere. Players of all levels are welcome to our social club days and there is also a very active Inter Club competition too,” Bernie said. “Running events like this requires a lot of volunteers, and fortunately we have great support from our members.”
