Free workshops advising people how to tackle the worst invasive weeds are being held by Northland Regional Council (NRC) in Maungaturoto this Thursday, August 4.
Morning and afternoon sessions will be held at Maungaturoto Primary School at 8 Gorge Road from 9am to noon and 1pm to 4pm. NRC’s biosecurity manager for pest plants, Joanna Barr, says everyone needs to tackle weeds in their backyards and the workshops will help people get stuck in.
“The hands-on sessions will give people lots of information and practical advice on how to identify and control a wide range of nasties that are a problem here in Northland, such as wild ginger, lantana, moth plant, Taiwan cherry and privet,” she says.
Numbers are limited and registration is essential, either online at www.nrc.govt.nz/weedsworkshops, or contact Biosecurity officer Sara Brill on 0800 002 004.
