More than 300 metres of ageing wastewater pipes have been replaced in Maungatūroto, improving the reliability and resilience of the town’s wastewater network.
Contractor TDG Environmental replaced six sections of pipeline on Hurndall Street and Whaka Street. The network carries about 750,000 litres of wastewater each day and serves around 1,350 people.
Kaipara District Council Mayor Jonathan Larsen said the upgrade was part of the council’s ongoing work to maintain reliable services for local communities.
“For Maungatūroto, this means a more resilient wastewater network that can better support homes, businesses and future community growth.
“It is work most people will never see, but it helps protect public health, reduce environmental risk and give the community greater confidence in the services they rely on every day.”
Construction began in June 2026 and was completed in August 2026, with the project delivered on time and under budget.
