All five Kaipara District Council drinking water supplies met every applicable safety and quality requirement during the 2025/26 reporting year, an independent assessment has found.
The result represents 100% compliance with the Department of Internal Affairs’ non-financial performance measures for drinking water safety.
The five supplies serve more than 6,000 people across Dargaville, Baylys Beach, Maungatūroto, Ruawai, Glinks Gully and Mangawhai Heads.
the district’s council-operated drinking water supplies met all bacterial and protozoal monitoring and assurance requirements, with no breaches such as E. coli detected in the distribution network.
Council said its staff and contractors work year-round to operate treatment plants, carry out regular water quality sampling and respond when issues arise.
It said the result is supported by ongoing investment in water treatment plants, pipes and equipment, along with the maintenance needed to keep the district’s five water supplies operating safely and reliably.
Across the district, council’s treatment plants produce around 3.3 million litres of drinking water each day, while approximately 182 kilometres of water pipes deliver it to homes and businesses connected to the network.
