Students at Silverdale School were given a chance to get up close to various Police vehicles – including the Eagle helicopter – on June 29.
The special demonstration day began in dramatic fashion with the helicopter landing on the school field. Five dog handlers and their dogs were in attendance as well as a Police motorcycle.
Snr Constable Luke Dodson is a member of Auckland Police’s motorcycle team and also has children at Silverdale School. He organised the event, which included a short talk and question and answer session with the helicopter crew and dog handlers and a demonstration of how the dogs apprehend a suspect.
During the helicopter’s approach, the crew took a photo of the entire school on the field, spelling out ‘KERI’ – which stands for its values of: kindness, excellence, respect and integrity.
