Update 10.00am – June 12

Police have identified the man found yesterday morning on Orewa Beach.The 31 year-old Japanese man was found by a member of the public just after 7.30am yesterday morning. 

The man’s family have been informed and Police are offering them every assistance. 

Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing, however at this stage it appears likely that the death will be referred to the Coroner. 

The body of the man was found on the northern end of the beach near the cliffs. 

Police Search and Rescue attended the scene on Thursday, along with the Police Eagle Helicopter and a Police photographer.
