Changing places: Restyle Boutique

Linda Holden

Last week’s opening of the Restyle Boutique in Tamariki Plaza, Orewa, has given owner Linda Holden an opportunity to put her “head full of ideas” into action.

Space was at a premium in Linda’s former recycled fashion store, Lindyloos in Whangaparaoa, so a lot of stock never made it onto the racks.

As well as moving the store to Orewa, Linda has re-named it Restyle Boutique, while retaining the focus on quality pre-loved and new fashion.

Much larger premises in Orewa, including generous storage, has allowed Linda to not only offer a wider range, but also to divide the fashion items into categories to make browsing easier. Whether you’re looking for ball and wedding gowns, teen wear, corporate styles for the office or designer and high-end fashion labels, there is plenty to choose from.

Linda makes sure everything in the store is well presented, clean and fresh and hung according to size to make shopping easy. A small selection of menswear is available in the new store, and Linda has plans to introduce pre-loved college uniforms and fancy dress hire.

A large range of accessories, especially shoes, jewellery, hats and scarves, is available.

Demand is there for fashion suitable for all four seasons, so you can buy a dress or two for that trip to the Pacific Islands right in the middle of winter.

Three large changing rooms are all wheelchair friendly and brand new display racks and colourful art prints set the tone for the bright interior.

Linda says that increasing the stock should broaden the appeal of the store to bring in a wide range of customers. She says the combination of pre-loved and new clothing has a lot of appeal for shoppers looking for styles that suit them at realistic prices.

“You should not have to be defined by what’s in the department stores each season – you should be able to find things that suit your style and figure any time,” Linda says.

She says starting Lindyloos a year ago was an experiment that paid off. “What I enjoyed the most was helping people find things that suit them and fit well – that they are happy in,” Linda says. “When customers get compliments wearing the outfits, they come back to the store and often become regulars.”
