Knitters support community causes

A group of Snells Beach women have combined forces to knit blankets and baby wear to support local groups.Group member Karen Lane says after two months of “swapping yarns” they have 13 blankets, which they have donated to Homebuilders, Plunket and Women’s Centre Rodney. The women are part of the ‘Peggy Purl’ movement which was started by Peggy Cook during the Great Depression and is making a revival. Peggy’s daughter Adair Eady is trying to expand the programme across the country once again.

The Snells Beach group is looking for donations of wool to keep them knitting.
