Ōrewa supermarket struck by aggravated robbery

A 16-year-old male was arrested yesterday evening, following the attempted aggravated robbery of Countdown in Ōrewa.

“The alleged offender went into the store with a knife and demanded cash before fleeing the scene on-foot,” a Police spokesperson says.

“Police staff attended and quickly commenced an investigation. Within a very short time-frame a suspect was identified and located.

“The 16-year-old, who admitted the offending, will be referred to Youth Aid.”
