Planning for Silverdale’s future

Silverdale residents got to grips with the draft Silverdale Centre Plan last month, with feedback sessions held on June 19 and 27.

The draft Silverdale Centre Plan looks at the future of the Silverdale town centre as a whole and how the area could grow and develop over the next 30 years. It is a non-statutory document, but will provide a guide for Council as development in Silverdale continues.

Council staff who were on hand with Hibiscus & Bays Local Board members to discuss the plan with residents said most of the feedback related to transport with the completion of the park ‘n’ ride, bus services and the Curley Ave extension among the topics raised. “Most are just glad to see that some planning is happening,” one staff member said.

The feedback period runs from June 19 to July 17, with the final plan to be adopted by the local board in August.

People can give feedback online at shapeauckland.co.nz, Auckland Council service centres in Orewa and Whangaparaoa or at the libraries in Orewa and Whangaparaoa.

The draft Silverdale Centre Plan was first published in the May 6 issue of Hibiscus Matters and is attached to that story.

Next up is the Orewa Centre Plan.
