Prime Minister Chris Hipkins and more than 100 guests braved the pouring rain to officially open the $877 million motorway extension from Puhoi to Warkworth this morning, before Associate Transport Minister Kiri Allan cut the ribbon on the Matakana link road, Te Honohono ki Tai Road.
Both roads are expected to be open to traffic by Monday morning.
Standing at the northern exit of the motorway, the Prime Minister said the road would make a huge difference to the lives of people living north of Auckland, and said talks were underway with Waka Kotahi over the timing...
