Road rage incident in Omaha

Police are appealing for information about a road rage incident in Omaha involving a golf kart and a vehicle yesterday (Tuesday, May 5).

The incident took place on Broadlands Drive near the surf club carpark.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident can call 425 0823 and quote the file number 200408/2935.

Meanwhile, as the country approaches the possibility of moving out of level 3, Warkworth Police are encouraging residents to keep up their efforts to prevent the spread of covid-19.

Despite reports of parties and gatherings across the country, Sergeant Stallworthy says there have been no reports of mass gatherings in north Rodney.

However, last weekend police received a report that 30 people had gathered at Ti Point wharf for fishing and police attended to educate visitors about the current restrictions.

“I’m hoping we don’t get mass gatherings this weekend. If one infected person attends a party with 50 people, it will burst from there,” Sgt Stallworthy says.

“Let’s finish the lockdown strong. You don’t drop the ball and walk off the field five minutes before the end of the game.”

Nationally, police have received more than 1200 reports of breaches since level 3 began, 685 of which were during the weekend (May 1 and 2).

Despite a slight increase in burglary and other crime in the district, Sgt Stallworthy says crime rates are still incredibly low compared to pre-lockdown.

“There are still more police on deck, and any criminals stick out like a sore thumb. Residents have also been extra vigilant in reporting suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.”
