Sallies rally in wake of Gita

The Salvation Army is launching an appeal for New Zealanders to support the people of Tonga, Fiji and Samoa, following Cyclone Gita.

Regional Commander for Tonga Captain Sila Siufanga says staff and church members in Tonga are hard at work providing shelter and emergency support and assisting with the clean-up. “We have opened our buildings to those that need shelter and we are doing what we can to help people clean up. We are speaking with the government about what more assistance we can provide to best help in the immediate future,” he says.

Donations in support of those affected by Cyclone Gita can be made to The Salvation Army Pacific Emergency Fund salvationarmy.org.nz/pacificemergencyfund
