
Mahurangi had one of the highest voter turnouts in Auckland.
Based on provisional results the Warkworth Subdivision of the Rodney Local Board had the highest turnout in mainland Auckland at 53.1 per cent.
Only Great Barrier and Waiheke Island’s figures were higher, at 58.6 and 69.6 per cent respectively.
The Wellsford subdivision turnout was also higher than the Auckland average, with 44.8 per cent voting
The Hibiscus & Bays Local Board’s Hibiscus Subdivision was third highest in mainland Auckland, with a 45.2 per cent turnout (Orakei came in second with 47.6 per cent).
Overall, voter turnout in Auckland was 38.25 per cent – slightly up on last election’s 35.5 per cent, but still well down on the 51 per cent recorded in 2010 when the councils amalgamated.
Nationally, voter turnout increased slightly, increasing from 41.3 per cent in 2013 to 41.8 per cent.
