Sunday hui to discuss landfill rahui

A hui and community meeting to discuss the application of a rahui in a bid to stop the proposed landfill planned for the Dome Valley will be held in Wellsford this Sunday, June 9.

A rahui is a Maori ritual prohibition designed to protect and restrict access to an area of land or water.

In order to initiate a rahui, all marae and tribal bodies around the Kaipara Harbour need to meet and discuss the issue with Pakeha at a hui, which will take place at the Wellsford Community Centre from 1pm to 5pm.

All are welcome and organisers are asking anyone who is able to bring a plate of food to share.
