Neighbours of the residential development at 20 Link Crescent in Whangaparaoa will see fences go up and trees felled on the land, starting this week. The undulating and waterlogged site is being developed by McConnell Property in partnership with Panuku Development Auckland and will eventually contain 60 homes, an internal road, public reserve where a Family Centre is to be built, and children’s playground.
The development was given Special Housing Area status in February of this year and obtained resource consent in June.
The site was blessed on August 12 by manu whenua, Ngati Manuhiri, before a small gathering of contractors, engineers and McConnell Property’s development manager Matt Anderson.
Mr Anderson says that Panuku Development has kept neighbours up to date with progress on the development – this included a meeting in Whangaparaoa Library on Monday, August 15.
The initial work that gets underway this week will include putting an accessway across the stream and felling more than 20 tall pine trees. Earthworks, including piping the stream underground, will begin on October 1 and the first houses should be built around the middle of next year.
