1957 – August 28, 2022

An absolutely good soul passed on Sunday 28/8/22 at Southland Hospice,
Nic, Rowy and Rosco would like to thank all who loved her and all who were loved by her.
Brenda has been a warm presence next to me her husband for 48 years. ALWAYS a caring, loving person with an absolutely good soul. One of the most kind hearted persons I have ever known. She loved babies and kids, animals and Mini cat. Never an unkind word to anyone and always willing to give a helping hand. A very proud owner of the Hibiscus Driving Miss Daisy business that started in June 2014 with no customers and by sale date in May 2021 had successfully grown to 5 cars. It was a perfect fit for her – she loved helping people and in every annual customer survey received the highest rating of EXCELLENT. But to Brenda being the best mum to her two sons Nic and Rowy had more meaning to her and she was a wonderful mum, followed closely by an immaculate well kept house and a great cook/baker.
It was too soon at 65 years having already fought off breast cancer 12 years ago but after palliative chemotherapy, succumbed to stage 4 terminal bowel cancer and passed at Southland Hospice Sunday afternoon 28 August 2022. Hospice staff were gold.
She will be forever remembered as a lovely, kind, warm hearted person. All communication to ross.buzz@gmail.com
Driving Miss Daisy new business story, as appeared in Hibiscus Matters, 18 June 2014:
Driving Miss Daisy certainly gets its passengers from A to B and back, but there the comparison with a taxi service ends. The level of personal attention, time and care devoted to passengers makes Driving Miss Daisy a true companion driving service. It’s a national franchise, with more than 80 vehicles operating around the country and specialises in offering safe, reliable transport and companionship for mature, disabled or young people who cannot drive and need extra care. Recently the local franchise has been taken up by long time Stanmore Bay residents Brenda and Ross Yeager. Brenda is well known to anyone who has visited the Council offices in Orewa, having worked there for 23 years, including 12 years at the front desk. Working with people is her forte, and so far Driving Miss Daisy clients are proving to be great company. They have included seniors going to appointments and children that need transport to and from school and after-school activities. “The best part is that you’re helping people to be more independent,” Brenda says. “Plus I really enjoy the company.” Each journey is tailored to the passenger’s needs, whether that be taking a pet to the vet, heading to the airport or taking a scenic drive with a group of friends. Brenda can stay with people during medical appointments and provide updates to family who cannot be there. No need to worry about the meter ticking over, as each service is pre-quoted, based on time not kilometres. Brenda’s husband Ross is also involved with the business, taking care of all the admin. He says a bonus for the business is the fact that Driving Miss Daisy recently joined the list of Total Mobility Scheme providers – this is a Government funded initiative that provides subsidies for the transport costs of people with impairments. Brenda’s service area covers from Dairy Flat and Stillwater to Waiwera, so expect to see her distinctive vehicle out and about.
