Traffic crucial
I recently attended Watercare Services Ltd (Watercare) public presentation on the Warkworth growth servicing pipeline. The presentation was very informative and reflected Watercare taking on board local concerns and responding appropriately.
Looking forward, the detailed design and implementation of a traffic management plan during the pipeline construction is crucial to Warkworth’s wellbeing.
With this concern in mind, I emailed Watercare on April 3 as follows.
“… I am particularly interested in McConnell Dowell’s timeline in letting the traffic management contract for the work. I would like to see local firms or a consortium of local firms with traffic management experience being given a fair opportunity to be involved in this crucial aspect of the project.”
Watercare’s prompt reply stated:
“… The team are aware of your request regarding traffic management contract and will take this into consideration.”
I am confident One Mahurangi will continue to work with Watercare and McConnell Dowell to ensure our community’s interests are a top priority for traffic management during the pipeline construction.

Rhona’s number one fan
I totally enjoyed Rhona Olesen’s letter about school lunches back in her day (MM, Apr 14). Rhona, now aged 101, described how 13 siblings made their own lunches themselves. The lunches sounded delicious and very healthy. Mealtimes must have been happy occasions.
So please Rhona, I’d love to hear more great stories about your early life. I feel sure you must have plenty and I would love to hear them, and I’m sure many readers would as well.
