Seventeen-year-old skier Ryan Pinder has a list of tricks up his sleeve – all of which he hopes to land at Snowplanet, where he works.
On April 8 he went into Snowplanet’s record books when he landed a Misty 720 on his first attempt during a Slope Style, Free Style Ski competition. It is the first time this trick has been landed at Snowplanet. In the process, Ryan won the Open Men’s category.
The trick is described as a front flip performed while spinning 720°. Ryan did the move off a nine-metre jump.
The Orewa College student has been skiing for three years and competes all year round. He says he’s got a number of tricks in mind that are rarely, if ever, done at Snowplanet and plans to attempt another one next year.
