Rugby Club launches trust

Silverdale United Rugby Club has launched an Endowment Trust to help keep the club financially viable.

The Trust was kicked off at the end of April. Its chair is Terry Wilson. It is a long-term investment fund administered by trustees appointed by the members.

Concerned at the soaring costs of running the club, and with gaming machine and community grants becoming more difficult to obtain, Mr Wilson says the Trust will provide an additional income stream.

Boasting 800 players in the rugby season and another 500 in the touch season, as well as incorporating netball, the club is bursting at the seams and requires significant investment.

Mr Wilson says the club is encouraging ex-players and Old Boys, along with businesses and the community at large to gift to the fund. Info: email manager@silverdalerugby.co.nz
