Well-known personal finance expert Mary Holm will be in town this month to offer advice on money management to mark the release of a new edition of her best-selling guide Rich Enough? A Laid-Back Guide for Every Kiwi.

The author, columnist and broadcaster will be appearing at Warkworth Town Hall on August 29 as part of We Read Auckland, Auckland Council Libraries’ annual festival celebrating writing, authors and readers.

Holm will provide top tips on how to kill debt, increase savings, manage KiwiSaver funds, spend and invest wisely, and thrive in retirement, whatever anyone’s income.

She says learning to make money work harder can help everyone reach their financial and family goals.
Holm is the author of six books, two of them number one bestsellers, writes a personal finance column in the Weekend Herald and regularly appears with Jesse Mulligan on RNZ to discuss personal money management issues.

Copies of Rich Enough? A Laid-Back Guide for Every Kiwi will be on sale at the free event, thanks to Paper Plus Warkworth, and there will be a chance to meet and greet the author and have copies signed after her talk.

The team from Warkworth Library will also be there with this year’s We Read Auckland ‘Bestie Collection’ books – 14 new best-selling titles that will be at all 56 Auckland libraries throughout August on two-week loans.

The 2025 Bestie Collection comprises six fiction titles – 1985 by Dominic Hoey; Carved in Blood by Michael Bennett; See How They Fall by Rachel Paris; The Pool by Hannah Tunnicliffe; The Songbirds of Florence by Olivia Spooner; and The Stars are a Million Glittering Worlds by Gina Butson.

There are also seven non-fiction books, as well as Mary Holm’s Rich Enough? – they are A Different Kind of Power by Jacinda Ardern; Full Circle: A Personal Story of Reconnection by Jenny-May Clarkson; No Words for This by Ali Mau; Swirly World Lost at Sea by Andrew Fagan; The Unlikely Doctor by Dr Timoti Te Moke; Unreel: A Life in Review by Diana Wichtel; and Whānau: Reo Māori Phrases to Share with the People you Love by Donovan Te Ahunui Farnham and Rehua Wilson.
