Auckland Transport (AT) is seeking community feedback on plans for a new bus station at the Penlink-Whangaparāoa Road intersection.
AT says the proposed Whangaparāoa Bus Station would extend the NX2 rapid bus service to the Coast, cutting travel times to the city by up to 20 minutes and improving connections to Red Beach, Albany and the city centre. The project aims to deliver faster, cleaner and more reliable public transport options for the Whangaparāoa community. The design will include features such as safe access, bike facilities, seating, shelters and lighting, with an emphasis on accessibility for all users.
While the location has been identified, funding is yet to be confirmed. Once secured, detailed design work will begin, with final concept plans expected to go out for public consultation in 2026.
AT engagement staff say local input is vital to ensure the station meets community needs. Residents are invited to complete an online survey before December 7, to share feedback on features such as seating, lighting, landscaping, and safety.
The proposed station would serve as a key connection point between Gulf Harbour, Matakatia, Stanmore Bay, and Red Beach, reducing car dependency and supporting the future of public transport on the Coast.
