For Kellie Tremayne of Auto Super Shoppe Silverdale, the safety of young drivers is more than just good business, it’s a community responsibility. As a parent herself, Kellie understands the mix of pride and concern that comes when teenagers get their first car. Independence is exciting, but breakdowns, flat batteries or lost keys can leave young drivers feeling vulnerable.
“Parents often worry about what will happen if their teenager gets stuck on the side of the road,” Kellie says. “Will they know who to call, and will help arrive quickly? We wanted to create a solution that gives families reassurance and keeps our young people safe, especially when driving rural roads at night.”
That solution is simple: when teenagers book their first service at Auto Super Shoppe Silverdale, they receive six months of NZRA roadside rescue free of charge. No matter the issue, help is only a phone call away.
The initiative is part of Kellie’s wider commitment to supporting local families. “Our workshop has always been community-minded. Looking after cars is important, but looking after people, especially our youth, is what really matters,” she says.
Kellie says teaching teens about regular servicing not only keeps vehicles running reliably, but also teaches young drivers the value of preventative care and safe habits from the beginning, and helps them retain value in what is probably their most expensive purchase.
It’s part of the teams’ ongoing commitment to the Coast community, which also includes launching a Community Support programme to help local not-for-profit groups raise funds. If you are part of a community not-for-profit group and would like help raising money, pop in and have a chat with Kellie about how Auto Super Shoppe Silverdale can help.
