Joel Hogan has spent more than a decade working as an electrician, but for him, establishing Coast Power is also about building a business in the community where he and his family have chosen to put down roots.
Joel moved to the Hibiscus Coast in 2019 with his wife Hannah, and the couple are now raising their two young children here, giving Joel a strong personal connection to the homes, businesses and people he serves.
A qualified electrician, Joel has worked across residential renovations, new builds, commercial premises and large infrastructure projects in both New Zealand and Australia. His time working in the Western Australia mining industry exposed him to demanding projects and varied conditions, strengthening the practical thinking and problem-solving skills he now brings to Coast Power
That experience also taught him the importance of clear communication. Joel says customers should know what work is required, why it is needed and what it is likely to cost before a job begins.
Through Coast Power, he aims to offer straightforward advice, reliable service and workmanship customers can trust. The business provides electrical services for homeowners, builders and commercial clients, with 24-hour, seven-day coverage available when urgent work arises.
Although Coast Power is a new local business, Joel is not new to the trade. He sees the business as a chance to combine the experience he gained on complex industrial sites with the more personal service expected from a local operator.
For Joel, working close to home also means being accountable to the community around him. “ I want Coast Power to grow through repeat customers, recommendations and a reputation for turning up, explaining the work clearly and doing the job properly,” he says.
