Warkworth snags bag of medals

Warkworth Butchery has done it again – picking up five medals in the Dunninghams Great New Zealand Sausage Competition.

Owner Rob Lees and his talented staff won a Gold Medal for their Warkwurst, two silvers for the ‘pork, parmesan, truffle and bacon’ and ‘pork ’n’ fennel’ and two bronze medals for ‘pork and leek’ and ‘sweet chilli beef and roasted bell peppers’.

The Supreme Award was taken out by Auckland’s Westmere Butchery for its beef, parmesan and truffle sausage, beating more than 800 entries from across the country.

Technical judge, Brian Everton from Cabernet Foods, said the blend and balance of flavours set the Supreme winning sausage apart.

Pokeno Bacon took home the People’s Choice Award.
