UPDATE: The pharmacy that is a contact tracing location of interest in Silverdale has changed. Last night, the Ministry of Health added Unichem Pharmacy Silverdale, to the list but this afternoon it amended that to Silverdale Clinic Pharmacy, which is the one that is part of Silverdale Medical Centre, 7 Polarity Rise. The day and timing of the visit by the person infected with Covid-19 is the same (see story below). The advice for anyone who was at that location at the relevant time, or contacts, is also the same. Silverdale Medical also has a clinic called Weiti Creek (near Pak ‘n’ Save) and this too has a pharmacy, called Unichem Weiti Pharmacy. For any further changes, keep an eye on the Ministry of Health’s locations of interest at www.health.govt.nz
Nine days after the virulent Delta strain of Covid-19 was discovered in Auckland, the Hibiscus Coast has its first contract tracing location of interest.
Last night at 8pm the Unichem Pharmacy in Silverdale was added to the list, with anyone who was in that pharmacy on Thursday, August 19 between 12.20pm-1.45pm asked to self-monitor for Covid-19 symptoms for 14 days and, if symptoms develop, get a test and stay at home until getting a negative test result, and until 24 hours after symptoms resolve.
The naming of this location comes after an employee of Mighty Ape in Silverdale tested positive for the virus. On Tuesday, August 24 Mighty Ape put out a blog stating that this team member works in a non-customer facing role and was working a shift on Monday, August 16, before the country moved into Alert Level 4.
The company has temporarily suspended its Silverdale operations to allow time for staff identified as close or casual contacts to get tested and self-isolate. The facility is also being thoroughly cleaned.
If you have been at a location of interest at the relevant time, or have been identified as a contact by the contact tracing team, isolate and call Healthline, 0800 358 5453.
Local testing for Covid-19 is available at Manly Medical Centre in Manly Village via drive-through – anyone needing a test must phone the practice, 09 424 9050, to make an appointment before going to be tested.
Testing may also be available at your GP clinic – call first to check.
