There’s an ideal opportunity to ease into the festive mood at Matakana School this month, when a Community Christmas Fair is held in the school grounds on Friday, November 21, from 4pm until 8pm.
There will be a range of food on offer, including French-style pancakes from Bon Appetit Creperie, pizza from Italian in the Village and frozen treats from Mr Whippy, plus plenty of stalls for gift shopping, from artisan crafts to a kids’ mini-market.
Students’ performances and a DJ will keep the adults entertained, with fun games and a Santa Grotto for the kids.
School relations administrator Kim Scott says the Christmas Fair is more of a community event than a fundraiser, but any money raised will be put towards upgrades and repairs to the school playgrounds.
“It’s really just a fun family event that people can come along and have a picnic on the grass, while the kids run around with their friends, and the adults can get some early Christmas shopping in if they wish to,” she says.
Any local creative types who would like a stall to sell craft or gift items should email Kim at k.scott@matakana.school.nz
