Get ready for an unforgettable afternoon of music as the celebrated duet Duo Vivo performs live at the Warkworth Town Hall on Saturday, May 31 at 4pm.
Formed in 2003, Duo Vivo combines the considerable talents of Kiwi violinist Miranda Adams and Russian pianist/accordionist Tatiana Lanchtchikova.
Adams hails from Dunedin and has been assistant concertmaster of the Auckland Philharmonia since 1994.
An active conductor and a passionate commissioner of new music, she has studied with prominent teachers in New Zealand and Vienna and leads the Jade String Quartet.
Adams has also performed concertos with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and many regional orchestras.
Lanchtchikova graduated from the Novosibirsk State Conservatory in Russia and since moving to Auckland in 1996, she has become a cornerstone of the classical and contemporary music scenes.
She’s performed with groups such as Bravura, taught at Epsom Music School and played with the Auckland Philharmonia.
Known for their vibrant blend of classical elegance and fiery world music, Duo Vivo has captivated audiences nationwide with their highly acclaimed album ‘Jealousy, tango music’ and appearances at major festivals including the Wellington and Auckland Arts Festivals.
Their Warkworth concert will feature a richly varied programme: Beethoven’s beloved ‘Spring Sonata’, a selection of Brahms’ spirited ‘Hungarian Dances’, and Astor Piazzolla’s evocative tangos, performed with accordion.
Also included are Biber’s ‘Mystery Sonata No. 4’, Kreisler’s dazzling miniatures, and ‘Three Evocations’, a striking composition written especially for the duo by New Zealand composer John Elmsly.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear two of New Zealand’s most accomplished musicians in a concert that promises colour, contrast and charisma.
Tickets are $40 at the door and online through www.warkworthmusic.org.nz
