The Snells Beach community turned out in force on Good Friday for an Easter themed couple of hours on the waterfront. Supported by Rodney Local Board (RLB) and the Snells Beach Community Association, the event included both modern and old fashioned games, an Easter egg scramble and an Easter egg hunt.
The hunt required the young participants to find six characters hidden around the reserve – a fisherman, fairy, butterfly, town crier, gypsy and dinosaur – and secure a stamp from each to earn a chocolate Easter egg. RLB community facilitator Lou Perkins says the event was festive and fun, with around 400 to 500 people at its peak.
Given its success, it is likely to be repeated next year. Photos, Anna Thoroughgood.
