Knitters, crocheters, spinners and fibre lovers are being reminded to put August 16 in their calendar as the Kaipara Wool and Fibre Festival comes to town.
The event, held at Maungatūroto Country Club, will showcase a range of independent wool dyers, unspun fibre, tools and accessories, hand-dyed yarn, and raw fibre, including merino, alpaca, mohair and possum.
“The festival gives people in Northland the opportunity to see and touch the exciting yarns and fibre from talented local fibre artists all in one convenient place. We have such a lot of wonderfully talented people in our yarn and fibre community,” a Kaipara Wool and Fibre Festival spokesperson says.
With an on-site café and plenty of seating, there will also be ample space for crafters to sit and chat while working on their latest project.
Traders at the event include Apple Basket Quilts, Silverhill Alpacas, Dye Happy, Twisted Zisters, Wool on Wheels and many others.
“Maybe you have something specific in mind, want to touch and squish the yarn and fibre, or just want to be surrounded by wonderful fibre choices; you won’t want to miss this opportunity,” the spokesperson says.
The family-friendly festival will be held on August 16 at the Maungatūroto Club, 84 Bickerstaffe Rd, from 10am to 3pm. Entry is free, but a gold coin donation for parking is requested.
