Happy birthday Hidden Valley!

Time flies when you’re one of the most popular one-day, electronic summer music festivals.

Hidden Valley returns to Matakana Country Park for its 10th anniversary on Saturday, December 27, from 3pm to 11pm, continuing a run that began in 2016 and bringing more music fans into the fold.

Unsurprisingly it’s already sold out, however, there’s a waitlist available here: arep.co/p/hidden-valley-waitlist.

The organisers say they have four stages to accommodate some of the best talent in the world: Main Stage, Club Omaha, Matakana Stage and the George FM Container Rave, a 40-foot shipping container that runs from 3pm to 9pm.

The line-up is stacked with international and local DJs, producers, and electronic artists: from headline acts like Wilkinson (UK), K Motionz (UK), Kettama (IRE), Chris Stussy (NL Netherlands) and more, down to local favourites including Chaos in the CBD (NZ).

“This one’s going to be one for the books,” organisers say.

Originally, Hidden Valley began as a small electronic gathering promoted by Red Rum Touring and has expanded steadily over the past decade, adding more stages, a wider mix of acts, and larger production with more lights, bells and whistles.

The R18 event typically draws between 8000 and 10,000 people and has become a major end-of-year fixture for locals and visitors alike.

The latest instalment is expected to follow the format that has made it such a success with food and bar zones, VIP areas, water stations, onsite medical staff, parking and festival shuttles.

With its 10-year legacy intact, incredible line-up, and the natural beauty of the venue, Hidden Valley Festival looks like it will remain a highlight of the Kiwi summer calendar for many years to come.
