A delightfully sweet tradition is making its first-ever appearance at Mangawhai Activity Zone with the inaugural Golden Egg MAZ Easter Egg Hunt. Children aged 12 and under and their families are invited to join the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 19 at the zone, where hundreds of chocolate eggs will be hidden for eager egg seekers, including a prestigious Golden Egg, which will earn the finder a special prize. Brought to the community by the newly-formed MAZ Kids Committee, a team of six local young people, the PC Group who organised this years Waitangi Day, and their band of bunny volunteers, the Easter Egg Hunt is set to become an annual event. Entry is by gold coin donation and the MAZ Café will be open for refreshments. If raining, the event will be held on Monday, April 21. Easter Bunny’s bestie, John Phillis, says the hunt is yet another wonderful MAZ initiative designed to bring smiles to local children. “It will also be the perfect chance to explore the new MAZ playground,” he says. “It will definitely be open for Easter fun and probably be a good place to look for a few chocolatey treats!”
