Warkworth welcomes Santa with bells on

Bright Christmas. Mr and Mrs Claus had some tough acts to follow but were still the stars of the show at the Warkworth Santa Parade, under sunny skies on Saturday, December 15. Photos, Anna Thoroughgood.

Sunshine settled over Warkworth on Saturday, December 13 as crowds lined Queen Street for the annual Santa Parade.

Families staked out spots along the kerb with children wearing antlers and elf hats holding balloons, while the adults got into position with their cameras at the ready.

Many arrived early but didn’t have to wait long before floats, fire engines, marching bands and more began to roll by – vehicles and trailers covered in tinsel, giant candy canes and Christmas trees, alongside kids in costumes, musicians, and dancers.

Even Minnie Mouse made a welcome cameo.

Onlookers could see the effort local groups, schools, clubs and businesses had put into their decorations but Santa’s sleigh was the highlight for the youngest spectators, who enthusiastically exchanged waves with the famous Mr and Mrs Claus.

Once again Warkworth and the surrounding area came together for a simple, shared celebration and Christmas spirit.

Even the Grinch had a great time!
