Sea creatures of the two legged variety will hit the water for the annual Leigh Mid Winter Swim at Matheson Bay next month.
The event will be held on Sunday June 21, starting at 10.15am, rain or shine.
Organisers are encouraging everyone to get involved, whether by diving into the chilly waters or cheering from the shore. Participants of all ages can compete for prizes by wearing creative ‘Sea Creature’ themed costumes, either worn in the water or showcased afterward.
Leigh School will be serving up warm soup, fresh bread and homemade baking, while Leigh Preschool will host a sausage sizzle and other treats. Leigh Waste Free Minimisation will offer handmade crafts, promoting sustainable living.
Local groups including the Community Patrol, Pest Free Leigh and the Leigh Penguin Project will also be present, sharing their work and engaging with visitors.
Everyone is reminded to bring cash to support the stalls and activities.
Funds raised will go to the school and preschool.
