Significant bush protected

A block of native bush at 117 Arran Point Parade in Ōrewa appears to be safe from development, although the site is now in the hands of a residential property operation and development company.

The land is now owned by J G Land. Director Joel Giddy says the majority of it is protected so his company is doing some initial investigation work on the fringes to determine if it is suitable for building.

Most of the land is a Significant Ecological Area under Auckland’s Unitary Plan, which means it is protected from “the adverse effects of subdivision, use and development”.

Auckland Council records also show there are currently no resource consent applications lodged for the site.
