Library School Holiday Programme Rodney District

Ticket price: Free

Fun with food, making monsters and meeting the creator of kids character W. E. Kiwi is all on the cards at local libraries this summer holidays.

As ever, Warkworth, Wellsford and Mahurangi East library teams have organised plenty to keep kids active and occupied from now until the new school year starts, whether they are into arts, crafts, gaming, reading or just good old-fashioned playing with mates.

There’s everything from organised workshops, which need to be booked, to drop-in sessions where kids can come and go as they please, as well as activities such as scavenger hunts and activity tables that can be accessed at any time.

Auckland Council Libraries is also running the Raumati Reads summer challenge, which is designed to encourage primary school aged children to maintain their reading over the holidays.

Challenge packs and activity books can be picked up from each library and participants can earn stickers and win prizes from Auckland Live, Auckland Zoo, Auckland Pools & Leisure, Auckland FC and the NZ Maritime Museum.

The reading challenge runs until February 1.
