We’re back…

Last year, four 24-year-old blokes invited all their mates to a secluded, forested hill near Matakana to celebrate new years’ together. Those mates invited their mates, and by December, the community was at capacity of 350. Matakanarama grew steadily from an ambitious bush doof into something more closely resembling a full-scale professional operation.

The main difference…? We simply estimated how much we could take in from ticket sales, and worked out how that can be spent to craft the most ideal 3 days together. Without any corporate obligations, and absent any industry norms to know of, the entire blueprint was designed purely for the experience.

The result was an unmatched display of social connection of young adulthood in Aotearoa, soundtracked by an impressive collection of talented DJs and bands. We boogied, we beached, we laid in the grass, and we formed lasting bonds through the shared experience with those who made the bold call to trust these dudes with their most precious time of the year.

In 2025 the invite list grows to 1,500.

With the growth in numbers comes a chance to take our community-driven formula and add all the bells and whistles you can wish for out of any New Year’s festival. Big acts. Bigger production. Biggest collection of top-tier humans…
