After a full table of chatters assembled at Cafe Blue Whale for Chatty Cafe’s debut on the Coast last month, the social connection scheme has announced an Ōrewa-based connection at The Real Food Kitchen on Hillary Square.
The Real Food Kitchen’s owner, Kyle Gilstrap, says that he and his wife, Erica, wanted the business to help connect people even before the Chatty Cafe scheme launched in New Zealand, so the decision to offer their venue as a meeting place was easy.
“We read social media and sensationalist news that really divides people, but we really need to bring people together. There’s a lot more in common with each other than there is not. Hopeful somewhere local to meet helps to reduce that loneliness some people feel,” he says.
Alongside The Real Food Kitchen and Cafe Blue Whale, the Chatty Cafe has also found homes in Cafe Manly and The Archer in Stanmore Bay since its launch.
Cafe Blue Whale hosts Chatty Café every Thursday from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm, while meeting times for Cafe Manly and The Real Food Kitchen are yet to be confirmed and will be updated on the Chatty Café website. The Archer in Stanmore Bay also has Chatty Café tables available at any time.
