Health organisation Know Your Stuff NZ will run a series of workshops focused on raising awareness around drug-related issues during Field Days.
This will be the third year the organisation has had a presence in the health and wellbeing area.
During the three days, the team will engage with visitors and provide education about drugs and harm reduction.
Northland coordinator Kat Kalynchuk highlighted the importance of having open conversations with the community and answering any questions people may have.
“We will have resources that provide information on different drugs, drug interactions, including some prescribed pharmaceuticals, and guidance on how to identify various types of overdose,” she said.
“We are not a prohibition organisation. We recognise that substances and substance use exist in our communities, and our goal is to educate without prejudice.”
Kat also emphasised the structure and training behind the organisation.
“Know Your Stuff NZ is run by dedicated volunteers and regional managers, who undertake in-house training based on the latest scientific research and harm-reduction methods, as well as support for external training,” she said.
Know Your Stuff NZ started in 2015 with the purpose of providing drug users with accessible information about the substances they intend to take.
