The Farm Source store in Wellsford will create a vivid splash of colour for a very good cause this month, when a Pink Ribbon Breakfast is held on Friday, May 23, from 9.30am to 11am.
This will be the second breakfast that assistant manager Cassidy Allen has organised at the Port Albert Road store and she’s looking forward to putting the fun into fundraising for customers again.
“Last year we raised $900 for the Breast Cancer Foundation and this year our goal is to reach $1250,” she says. “It’s a great cause and last year the farmers loved being involved in the event.”
As well as a delicious breakfast full of sweet and savoury treats, there will be a raffle with a wide range of prizes.
Customers are being encouraged to get out of their farm gear and into something pink, with anyone dressed fully in pink earning a free raffle ticket.
Breakfast costs $15, which includes one entry in the raffle, or $35 for breakfast, two raffle tickets and a pair of pink socks. There is also a family/farm pass for $50, which includes food, drink and two raffle tickets.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Kiwi women – in Aotearoa, one in nine women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime and 650 women die from the disease every year.
Funds raised from Pink Ribbon events are used for education, patient support and continued medical research.
