From caravan to canvas

Pauline’s style blends mark-making, vibrant energy and dynamic movement.

Matakana artist Pauline Gough will participate in the NZ Art Show in Wellington later this month, where she will exhibit more than 30 original acrylic and mixed-media pieces.

The self-taught artist, who has been painting and exhibiting prolifically since 2010, says her exhibition pieces will reflect her rural background with lots of paintings featuring cows, roosters, florals and landscapes. “I make it a priority to paint most days at my studio, even if it is just for an hour, to keep the momentum going,” Pauline says.

“I’ve been head-down, pouring my heart into preparing this specific collection for the last year.” The NZ Art Show will involve more than 200 artists and 4000 artworks.

Pauline describes it is a place with a special vibe, and she appreciates that the profits go directly back into supporting the local art community, helping to keep the creative cycle going.
