The kindness to strangers has come to the fore this Christmas for Hestia Rodney Women’s Refuge and Gutter Kitties.
Generous Coasties contributed a wide range of items to Hibiscus Matters’ Christmas appeal, ensuring many families and pets will have a happier Christmas.
Hestia’s Claudia was overwhelmed by the amount that had been given and thanked everyone for being so generous.
“We are down on everything this year, and we are at capacity – the tougher economic times and Christmas stresses are taking their toll, but this will definitely bring some Christmas cheer to our families.”
Guttter Kitties volunteer Kirsha Buckman says the donations will help ease the pressure on the organisation as it deals with an influx of kittens over summer.
“Without the support of our community we couldn’t continue what we do at this scale. We always need help with our vet bills and fostering.”
She encourages anyone interested in fostering to get in contact.
“You need a self-contained home and dedicated space to foster, and we have an array of cats with different needs and personalities.”
