Life is expanding on both the professional and home fronts for Mangawhai Physiotherapy owners Cameron ‘Cam’ and Vicki Barbour, of Waipu.

They have recently welcomed the arrival of a baby to join their clan of five and will soon open a new clinic in Mangawhai Central.

The 260 square metre purpose-built physiotherapy building will feature six treatment rooms, a rehabilitation gym, office facilities and attractive waiting areas. Construction is expected to be finished around October.

Wellsford born and bred Cam says their vision is to establish a full service physio clinic that meets the evolving needs of Mangawhai residents now and into the future.

“It’s an exciting step forward, both for us and the wider community, allowing us to cement high-quality healthcare services in the area to support ongoing growth,” he says. “We’re growing alongside the community.”

Cam and Vicki have worked at Mangawhai Physiotherapy since 2017 and 2018 respectively, before becoming owners in 2019, which also has a satellite practice in Waipu. The couple has three children under five, making for a lively household and a constant juggle between family and business, which includes eight physios between the two clinics.

“It does require a lot of balance – the physio work and the business, as well as personal life and the kids. The staff are dedicated and supportive, which helps.

“Vicki handles the financial side while I do the day-to-day running of the clinic. We bounce ideas off each other and have some good discussions, so it works quite well,” Cam says.

“We are aware the business side could consume all our time, night and day, and there’s been some little sacrifices along the way, like Vicki’s running and my rugby and fishing days, but that’s all part of it.”
