An appeal has been made for early photographs of Matakana township.
Former school principal Neville Johnson is coordinating the production of a heritage brochure, which he hopes to see printed later this year. “We’re in the early stages of sourcing images,” he says.
“There are still many families in Matakana who have lived here for generations and we hope they might look in their albums and shoe boxes for photos that have not previously been seen publicly.
The owners can keep the originals – we would only want to take a copy and all sources will be acknowledged.”
