Ōrewa family-owned residential care home, Pinehaven Cottage, has been awarded Best Small Aged Care North Island (fewer than 40 beds) in the New Zealand’s Best Awards.
The awards, run by Aged Advisor NZ, recognise excellence in aged care and retirement living. Winners are determined solely by reviews and ratings submitted by residents, their families and visitors.
This is the second consecutive year the facility has received the award.
Director/owners Rose and Carl Cooper and manager Jay Banks say they were very happy to be recognised again this year.
“It’s a tough award to win and it acknowledges the hard work and dedication we have put in to provide the best care. Our number one priority is the care of our precious elderly and the acknowledgement shows us that we are doing a great job. There are a lot of negatives around placing elderly into care. The families have to make a hard decision to place their loved one into care so our job is to make sure they are cared for at the highest level and supporting the families which is what should be expected.”
“Our staff are amazing and they love their role in caring for our residents, it’s truly an honour to be entrusted with caring for a loved one. Our staff are also very important at Pinehaven and we want to foster a workplace environment which is supportive, contributing to their well-being and growing both personally and professionally, a place where they can come to work that is meaningful and enjoyable, a fun culture and building memories. It’s about family, whether you are an employee or resident you are part of our Pinehaven family.”
