Rare invitation to iconic station

There’s a rare chance to visit an iconic Kaipara property in October, when Oneriri Station opens its gates for a special farming field day.

The 3500 hectare sheep and beef farm sits on a peninsula due west of Te Hana, at the confluence of three rivers flowing into the Kaipara Harbour – the Oruawharo, Wairoa and Whakaki.

Organiser Beef & Lamb NZ said the Northland Showcase Day offered a rare chance to see traditional farming at its finest while enjoying breath-taking scenery.

“After nine years, Oneriri Station is kindly reopening its gates for a special field day. With a 47km Kaipara Harbour boundary along the Oneriri Peninsula, this event is not to be missed,” a spokesperson said.

Oneriri features rolling hill country, large stands of old kauri and more than 300 hectares of regenerating native forest, with environmental sustainability at its core.

The farm tour will be led by station owner Julian McPike and long-standing farm manager Trevor Smyth, together with their team of shepherds.

The showcase day will run on Wednesday, October 29, from 10am to 3pm. Numbers are strictly limited and registration is mandatory.
