Women wanting to return to study or take the next step towards a new career can apply for the Zonta Club of Mangawhai’s Second Chance Study Award.
The award provides up to $2500 towards tuition fees for an NZQA-approved course of study and is aimed at women whose access to tertiary education would be helped by financial support, with many previous winners using the award to finance their final year of study.
Women living in Mangawhai, Kaiwaka, Maungatūroto, Waipū, Ruakākā, Wellsford, Tomarata and Dargaville are eligible to apply, it is not available to school leavers. The study award is made possible through funds raised at Zonta events and the ongoing support of the local community, with the aim of helping women gain qualifications that will lead to sustainable career opportunities.
As part of Zonta International, the club works to empower women through service and advocacy. Locally, members support a range of projects and organisations, while internationally Zonta contributes to programmes that help women overcome barriers to education, healthcare, legal rights and employment.
Applications for the award close on July 17. Anyone interested in applying can request an application form by texting Sheryl on 027 478 2540 with their name, email address and the words “Second Chance Study Award”.
