Spin in to Wellsford for felting and weaving open day

Textile excellence and fabrics with finesse will be on display in Wellsford this month, when Creative Fibre Northland holds a ‘spin-in’ and open day at the town’s Community Centre.

As well as an extensive display of members’ handiwork, there will be demonstrations of different fibre crafts, from spinning, weaving and felting to knitting and crochet.

Visitors will be able to have a go at various activities themselves and members will be on hand to answer any craft-related questions.

There will also be trade stalls and a number of raffles at the event, which takes place on Saturday, August 16 between 11am and 2pm.

The regional get-together and display is being hosted by the Warkworth-based Kowhai Craft Spinners, Weavers & Felters Group.

One of the organisers, Rosemary Burnby, says the display of work will include pieces from the latest winner of the national Creative Fibre New Weavers Award.

“Hopefully this will be enough to whet folks’ appetites and we look forward to welcoming lots of visitors on the day,” she says.

All welcome, entry by koha.
