A Fabric Rescue Market will be held at the Matakana Village Hall on Sunday June 7, from 10am to 2pm.
It is a space where fabrics of all styles and types are available to sewing enthusiasts.
It is a non-profit event, where visitors pay whatever they can afford for a piece of fabric.
Proceeds are redistributed as donations to local schools and colleges, to the Warkworth Museum for textile restoration projects and to various community sewing and creative groups in the Warkworth and Matakana area.
Organisers say they have already amassed a great range of fabrics, including some high quality stock left over from a film set.
For those who wish to donate unused fabrics, as well as boxes of good-quality sewing items, these can be dropped off at libraries and community centres.
