Hibiscus Coast AFC marked a milestone over King’s Birthday Weekend as long-serving Men’s First Team player Dan Cyra made his 250th appearance, becoming the first player in the club’s history to reach this landmark. He added to the celebration by scoring his 100th goal for the club, a moment that brought teammates and supporters to their feet.

However, this milestone is not about one player; it also represents a family with deep roots in the club. The Cyra name is well-known at Hibiscus Coast AFC. Dan’s father, Marek, was recently awarded life membership in recognition of his long-standing involvement with the club, and both Dan’s brother, Michael, and sister, Nat, also came through the club’s ranks as players.

The club’s Technical Director of Football Nathan Cranney says Dan’s loyalty and consistency over the years sum up what the club is about.

“He’s grown with the club, and the example he sets for younger players is huge. It’s not just about the football – it’s about the way he carries himself off the pitch too.”

Club president Jenni Schanschieff says milestones like this one are rare. “For any player anywhere to reach 250 games and 100 goals at one club, especially one they’ve been with since their junior days, says everything about Dan’s character and his relationship with this club,” she says. It’s a proud moment not just for him, but for everyone at Hibiscus Coast FC.”
